Run Rootie Run!...Roots sponsor the Boughton 10Km run and 1.5Km fun run
Roots are proud to sponsor our local village 10Km road race and fun run. The run is organised every year by the village school PTA and all proceeds go towards improving the school resources.
2006 Race Cancelled
I'm sorry to announce there will be no 2006 Boughton 10K. The reason is we still haven't been able to find someone to be the "Race Director". The Race Directors role is to book the key things (village hall, police road closures, get the licenses from the various running bodies) and co-ordinate between the other volunteers (Safety Marshall, Race Admin, Timekeepers, Car Parking organisers and so on). The school headmaster tried to fill in as best as he could during the year in the hope that someone would volunteer but alas that hasn't been the case.
All is not lost though! We still intend to run the race next year. If you would like to help us organise it please call Hugh Greenwood at Boughton School on 01227 751431

The 10km race follows a circular route beginning and ending in the ancient village of Boughton under Blean. The route follows undulating country lanes with views of the surrounding countryside. Boughton under Blean is easy to reach being just 1 minute from Junction 7, M2. Free parking is being provided at Boughton Primary School, School Lane, Boughton.
The fun run (1.5km) is keenly contested between the younger generations of runners, with parents, grandparents, aunts and uncle’s often running in support with everyone who finishes getting medal.
The run began as a way of raising funds for the local primary school and this year marks the 10th run. All proceeds go directly to Boughton school
While you enjoy the run your children can enjoy the bouncy castle and your spouse can enjoy the fresh cooked food, barbeque and licensed bar. There will also be stalls selling running equipment, original artworks, hand made cards, fudge and there is an official race photographer covering the event with photos available to order after the race.
